NOTE: You REALLY REALLY do NOT like these photo shoots...
Here are some of the milestones you have reached this month:
You started SMILING and COOING around 5 weeks. It is my favorite part of the day… you do this the most first thing in the morning and have just started doing it in the evenings after you eat. It is so much fun to talk to you and watch you react with a big, sparkly smile. You smile with your eyes and it spreads across your face… It truly lights up your face and anyone you are smiling at :)
You transitioned to your crib at 5 weeks old and we are all sleeping better. Although I admit, we check the video monitor multiple times per night and I cried the first night we put you in your crib. You are a noisy sleeper- you have the cutest snores just like your daddy - but you are great in your crib and we are all getting better sleep stretches because we aren't waking at every single movement and noise.
You started ROLLING OVER at 6 weeks old. And I thought it was a fluke until you did it again the next day and have continued to do it when we put you on your tummy. Doctor seemed to be very impressed and commented on how strong you are little one!
You are eating every 3 hours during the day and at nighttime you are going one 6 hour stretch and then a 4 hour stretch. We typically feed you around 10pm, 4am, and 8am. This is seriously NOT too shabby! What is our secret? Well this is two-fold. Part 1: We reintroduced the swaddle this month and it has worked WONDERS for your sleeping. I thought since you nap with your hands over your head you wanted out of the swaddle but at night you really do better bundled up tight! Part 2: We had to start supplementing with formula last week. You had been extremely fussy for almost a week and this was not just "Happy Hour" fussy, this was "If Stella is not sleeping she is crying" fussy and I really felt like something was wrong. This about sums up week 6...
We took you in to see the doctor and you had only gained 300 grams in 3 weeks (You needed to be gaining 250 grams PER WEEK) - So the doctor asked us to start supplementing with formula. I was kind of sad but also relieved to know that I wasn't crazy and there was a SOLUTION to the problem… You were just HUNGRY!!! Ever since we have started supplementing you have been a different baby - so much happier!
You still prefer to be held but are warming up to your bouncy seat, swing, and playmat. When you get super fussy the Baby Bjorn typically does the trick!
You just started sucking your fist but you still really love your paci. You ONLY like the MAM brand that Aunt Katy got you! Those are a lifesaver.
You attended your first basketball game of Dads! You were the cutest fan and his biggest cheerleader!
You also went on your first road trip to Bordeaux to become an AMERICAN!!!! You are now completely French and completely American. We should be getting your passport in the mail any day now :)
You had your FIRST Sightseeing trip to Sarlat, Beynac, and Collognes la Rouge with Aunt Nicki and Uncle Kent! You were an angel- you slept like a champ in the car and the stroller too! We fed you bottles throughout the day and aside from throwing up all over yourself (twice) and us changing your clothes (twice) and having a blowout (we forgot the wipes) the trip was smooth sailing! haha :)
Now that formula has been added to the equation, you have put on weight FAST! Your little face has filled out, you have a tiny little belly, and I can even count a roll on each one of your thighs! You are still wearing your newborn clothes but at the rate we are going, I am not sure they will be fitting much longer!
Your 2 month stats are:
Your 2 month stats are:
Weight: 9 pounds 9 ounces (18.4 percentile)
Length: 22 inches (57.9 percentile)
Head Diameter: 15.7 inches (98.6 percentile- BIG HEAD JUST LIKE YOUR MOM!)
We love you so much Stella Rose! You are adorable, the light of our lives, and a joy to be around. You are growing fast and furious and changing so much... It is so much fun and kind of sad at the same time. I want you to stay tiny but I also love watching you discover new things and interact with the world around you more and more every day. I can't wait to see what this month has in store :)
What a precious little munchkin!

DeleteMy sweet Stella Rose, it was such a treat to get to know you and hold you while you are still so so tiny! ...and to literally watch you grow before my eyes in just a few short days! Good job, Stella-love. I am so grateful to your mom and dad for letting me feed you basically every bottle possible (the formula addition came at the perfect time for me ;) And I love it that you never minded Little C kicking you while you ate. That was sweet of you. I cannot wait to hold you again soon. You have already stolen my heart, eventhough we sometimes forgot that you were on the trip with us... We are new at this...thank you for your patience! Love, Aunt Nicki
